(HBO) – Recently, Hoa Binh’s agriculture sector has focused on expanding consumption linkage models for local farm produce, aiming to further promoting sustainable agricultural production in the province.
In the development trend of the market, households, cooperatives and businesses in Hoa Binh have fostered coordination, towards improving the output, quality and value of agricultural products.
In 2022, Yen Thuy district exported the first batch of Dien pomelos to the UK market, opening up opportunities to increase the value of local Dien pomelos.
Mr. Bui Van Duong in Gia Phu hamlet, Gia Mo commune (Tan Lac district) has switched to pumpkin cultivation for seeds. The sale of products has been guaranteed because his family signed a cooperation contract with businesses. Accordingly, the businesses will provide seedlings, some necessary materials and technical support for his family to produce high-quality products.
Duong said the cooperation help stablise the price of products, therefore his family only focuses on taking care of the crop in accordance with the technique in order to produce high-quality products with high productivity. The product consumption linkage has been also increasingly focused on key agricultural products of the province, especially citrus fruits.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hong Luan’s family in Phu Nghia commune (Lac Thuy district) has planted orange trees for ten years. This crop requires high investment capital and cultivation technique so Luan's family has actively learned from experience and knowledge in other localities. Her family signed a consumption linkage contract with businesses, which set the time of production, delivery, quantity, quality requirements and the price of products.
In recent years, Lac Thuy has focused on promoting consumption linkages for local farmers. The local cooperatives have enhanced coordination in production, and connected multiple channels to consume products. During the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years, Lac Thuy’s farmers have sought to sell their products on e-commerce platforms.
Hoang Dinh Chinh, Deputy head of the Division of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lac Thuy district, said efforts to ensure the stable consumption have helped raise the price of products and the incomes for farmers. The district's authorities have encouraged businesses to invest in agricultural development and boost linkages with farmers in selling products, he stressed. The consumption linkages have helped local farmers produce proactively and minimise risks before market fluctuations.
In recent years, Hoa Binh’s agriculture sector has witnessed a breakthrough development. Luong Son, Lac Thuy and Yen Thuy districts are developing agriculture in accordance with their potential and advantages, and market trends.
According to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, last year, local authorities have strengthened production and consumption links of products in chains; granted planting area codes; and expanding growing areas certified food safety and those meeting VietGAP and organic standards. By the end of 2022, nearly 2,298 ha of products, including over 1,651 ha of citrus fruits, 311 ha of vegetables of all kinds, and over 335 ha of other crops, and 22 breeding facilities, were certificated.
Last year, Hoa Binh exported 1,039 tonnes of cultivation products worth 518.8 billion VND (over 21.8 million USD) to China, the Republic of Korea, the US and EU markets; 975 tonnes of processed products and 35 million cans of products processed from nuts to Japan, Taiwan (China), the Netherlands, the RoK and the EU. The locality also earned 790 billion VND from exporting forestry products to China, the RoK, the US and Canada in the year.
According to the provincial Cooperative Union, supporting and improving the operational efficiency of cooperatives is an important solution to promote the formation of link chains, thus raising the value of agricultural products and the income of farmers./.
