(HBO) - Hoa Binh ranked third nationwide in managing food safety for agro-forestry-aquaculture products in 2022, according to a notice from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

With the goal of promoting agriculture development in the direction of safety and efficiency; large commodity production associated with consumption; the restructuring of agriculture and new-style rural building in connection with tourism development, environmental and ecosystem protection, and response to climate change, provincial authorities paid heed to organising campaigns to popularise legal regulations on food safety with varies forms. These have contributed to raising public awareness and creating social changes in the issue.

The provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has directed the Sub-Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Quality Management to strengthen sampling in order to monitor the quality and food safety of agro-forestry-fishery products produced and traded in the province. Those violating quality and food safety were traced and handled in accordance with legal regulations.

By the end of 2022, the provincial sub-department guided and granted food safety certificates to 111 agro-forestry-aquatic production and business establishments and supported 28 farming and breeding establishments certified with VietGAP, GlobalGAP and organic standards.

So far, 147 farming, breeding and aquaculture establishments have been certified of meeting VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and organic standards, and 87 organisations and individuals confirmed of meeting the standards of safe food supply chain.

In 2022, as many as 14 enterprises, cooperatives and groups of cooperatives in Hoa Binh exported 48,027 tonnes of products to China, Taiwan (China), Japan, Australia, the Republic of Korea, the European Union, the Netherlands and Germany, with a total revenue of over 1.24 trillion VND (nearly 52.9 million USD), up 19.17% and 24.35% year-on-year, respectively./.
