(HBO) - Being located in the center of 5 highland communes in the South of Cao Phong district, Dung Phong is the first commune of the province reaching the goal of building a new countryside. In the village roads, the alleys and the public works have been spaciously built, and the people's lives have markedly improved.

The roads in Bai Be 2 hamlet, Dung Phong commune (Cao Phong) have been invested, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development in the area.

Together with the leaders of Dung Phong People's Committee, we visited Mr. Bui Van Bo's family in Bai Be 2 hamlet. Mr. Bo says: Enjoying the results of the program building new rural areas, schools, stadiums, cultural houses, health stations, electricity grids, the roads have been invested and built spaciously, the trade activities in the central market of the commune take place vibrantly. The production models have brought high economic efficiency, helping the people with the stable jobs, and improving the quality of life. There are 5 members in my family, and we have invested in growing oranges and sugarcane, maintaining the rice cultivation to ensure food, and raising fattening buffaloes have brought the stable income, the family’s economy is increasing.

Mr. Bui Van Lien, the Chairman of Dung Phong People's Committee says: In recent years, the Party committees and the local authorities have focused on leading and directing the implementation of the national set of criteria for building new rural areas. In 2014, the commune achieved 19 of the 19 criteria; in 2019 advanced new rural area were achieved. The commune has started building a model of the residential area and garden since 2020. The commune has effectively exploited the potentials and advantages in the district's commodity production area; strongly converting the inefficient land areas to growing sugarcane and citrus trees with high efficiency in order to reduce poverty sustainably and improve the people's lives.

For many years, along with improving the quality of the achieved criteria for the new rural area, the commune has implemented the solutions to the sustainable poverty reduction, supporting and orienting the people to change the structure of crops and livestock, and developing services to increase income. Every year, the Party committees, the authorities, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations develop the specific targets and plans to direct and mobilize the people to develop the key trees and plants; well directing the restructuring crops and livestock with high economic efficiency, and at the same time actively transferring the scientific and technological advances into production. In particular, they have been focusing on directing the development of production of strong crops such as sugarcane, oranges, raising cattle and poultry, transforming the structure of crops and livestock with high economic efficiency, which has helped the people here richer and richer.

Dung Phong has a total natural area of over 1,000 hectares, of which the agricultural land is over 700 hectares. Up to now, the commune has basically converted the inefficient rice cultivation area to growing sugarcane and the hill garden area to growing citrus. The commune maintains an area of over 300 hectares for sugarcane cultivation, the rest are for citrus trees and other vegetables and crops. The commune has also paid attention to the development of handicrafts, services and business, trading, transportation and traditional occupations such as knitting, brocade, etc.

In addition, Dung Phong has paid attention to well implementing the social security policies, coordinating with the superior specialized agencies to well issue health insurance cards for the ethnic minorities, the poor and social patrons according to the regulations, supporting the poor to stabilize their lives and develop production. As a result, commune's average income has reached 53.6 million VND a person and the rate of the poor households has decreased to 6.06% so far.

According to Mr. Bui Van Lien, the Party Committee, the authorities and the people of Dung Phong commune will continue to promote the strength of consensus to maintain and improve the quality of the criteria for building a new rural area in the coming time. In the development process, it is necessary to pay attention to preserving and protecting the environment, gradually improving the quality of life, contributing to promoting the local economy, culture and society to develop in a sustainable way.
