(HBO) – Thanks to the application of high technologies in herbal medicine production, processing and packing processes, the productivity and quality of the products have greatly increased, helping raise the income of local farmers by 1.5-2 times.
Agricultural products produced with high technologies, including
herbal medicine glue of Yen Tri agricultural cooperative in Yen Tri commune,
Yen Thy district, have been welcomed in the market.
Bui Phi Nam, Director of Yen Tri agricultural cooperative, said that the
application of high technologies in production has not only helped increase
products’ values but also reduce cost and enhance productivity of crops.
For example, the use of automatic irrigation technology, drip irrigation system
and controlled automatic fertilisation has made sure that herbal plants are
provided with moisture and nutrients to grow in ideal conditions, resulting in
high yield and generating an income of 250-300 million VND (10,625-12,751 USD)
per ha each year, he said.
Trinh Dinh Son, head of the Yen Thuy Agriculture and Rural Development
Division, said that Yen Tri cooperative is not the only facility that has
applied high technology in production, but the practice has become popular in
all localities of the district.
Currently, one company, six cooperatives, one cooperative group and one
household are applying high technologies in the production of many kinds of
farm produce such as solanum trilobatum, vegetable, pomelo, zucchini, bitter
melon, passion fruit and chili pepper.
Son said that hi-tech agricultural development, which has been implemented in
parallel with the OCOP (One Commune-One Product) programme, has helped Yen Thuy
develop 17 OCOP products, while enhancing the operational efficiency of local
cooperatives and cooperative groups.
So far, the district has 39 agricultural cooperatives, along with 37
cooperative groups of 537 members, creating jobs for over 800 labourers.
However, Son pointed to a number of problems in the application of high
technologies in agricultural production, including a lack of capital. He said
that in order to effectively promote hi-tech agriculture development, it is
necessary to design mechanisms and policies to provide support in technology
and equipment to hi-tech farming activities, while strengthening the research,
application and transfer of science and technologies, and giving financial
support to cooperatives and producers in expanding their hi-tech farms./.
