The Standing Board of the Hoa Binh provincial Party Committee held a conference on October 22 to review the three-year implementation of its scheme No. 01-DA/TU, dated August 6, 2021, aimed at strengthening the Party leadership over chapters of the Vietnam Farmers' Union (VFU) to develop a strong organisation and assist farmers in production and sale, contributing to the new-style countryside development for the 2021-2025 period.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Dinh Cong Su presents certificates of merit to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to leading and advising on the implementation of the scheme.

Since the scheme was launched three years ago, the province has set up 15 new safe farm produce stores in various districts and city, or 150% of the target; and had 101 "One Commune, One Product" (OCOP) items recognised, reaching 126% of the target. The support fund for farmers has exceeded 63.6 billion VND (2.5 million USD), providing loans for 205 projects involving over 1,800 households. The VFU chapters at all levels have built 677 effective cooperative models, working groups and occupational farmer associations, equivalent to 203% of the target.

Delegates focused their discussions on developing OCOP and organic products for larger markets, improving product quality, effectively using the support fund for farmers, and boosting product marketing and sale. They also highlighted the role of VFU chapters in new-style countryside development and job creation for farmers.

In his concluding remarks, Permanent Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Council Bui Duc Hinh urged Party committees, local authorities and mass organisations to strengthen the Party leadership and coordination in supporting farmers. They were required to continue effectively disseminating the content and significance of the scheme alongside patriotic emulation movements launched by the Government and local authorities.

He called for increasing support for production and sale through various means, upholding the VFU’s role in rural development, pooling resources from businesses and non-governmental organisations to assist farmers, effectively implementing the Politburo’s Resolution No. 46-NQ/TW, dated December 20, 2023, on reforming and improving the quality of the VFU’s activities to fulfil revolutionary tasks in the new period.

On the occasion, eight collectives and seven individuals were awarded certificates of merit by the Chairperson of the provincial People's Committee for their outstanding contributions to the scheme implementation.
