President Tran Dai Quang visted and extended Tet greetings to compatriots of ethnic groups in Duc Co district’s Ia Dom border commune in Gia Lai province, where he attended the "Tet for the Poor and Agent Orange Victims” programme, and presented Tet gifts to 100 policy beneficiary families and poor households.

The State leader expressed his pleasure at the achievements of Ia Dom in building a clean and strong political system, boosting socio-economic development and reducing poverty. He spoke highly of the local authorities’ efforts to ensure a happy, warm, healthy, economical and safe Tet for all households.

The Party and State always provide care for policy beneficiary families, poor households and revolutionary contributors, he said, asking Ia Dom locals to make greater efforts in improving their living conditions, thus contributing to the cause of national construction.

Earlier in the morning, President Quang paid a pre-Tet visit to officers and soldiers working at the border guard station of the Le Thanh International Border Gate in Duc Co district.

He encouraged the force to be unwavering in safeguarding national border sovereignty and security, to effectively fulfill the task of combat readiness, participate effectively in social security and poverty reduction programmes in the locality, and to strengthen international cooperation in combating crime and social evils in border areas, contributing to the construction of a borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

* On the same day, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh visited and presented gifts to policy beneficiary families, disadvantaged people and children living in extremely difficult circumstances in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh.

After offering incense at a temple dedicated to Uncle Ho in Long Duc commune, she presented gifts to more than 50 policy beneficiary families and poor households here, while visiting and asking after Vietnamese Heroic Mother Huynh Thi Tam and war-invalid Mai Tan Duc.

On the occasion, Vice President Thinh presented 200 gifts worth VND1.1 million (US$48.4) each to impoverished households, needy students, and children with disabilities in Tra Vinh province.

Party members take lead in road expansion in Da Bac’s Doan Ket sub-region
