(HBO) – The Standing Board of the Hoa Binh provincial Party Committee held a meeting on June 21 to give opinions on the development of agriculture, rural areas, infrastructure, and the contingent of cadres, along with some other important issues. Ngo Van Tuan, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, chaired the event.

Ngo Van Tuan, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, addresses the meeting.

Officials discussed a proposal submitted by the Party unit at the provincial People’s Committee and a draft plan by the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board on agricultural development associated with new-style countryside building for 2021 - 2025, which is expected to help optimise the use of resources to boost the agricultural sector, serving as a driving force for other economic sectors, thus helping achieve the socio-economic targets set in the resolution of the 17thprovincial Party Congress for the 2020 - 2025 tenure.

They also reviewed the leadership over the performance of tasks during the first half of this year and identified the key duties and solutions for the remaining months. They shared the view that despite encouraging outcomes, it is necessary to have stronger determination to obtain the twin targets of combating the pandemic and promoting socio-economic development.

Speaking at the event, Ngo Van Tuan, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, emphasised the role of agriculture, which substantially helps with local socio-economic and political stability.

He requested that the plan on agricultural development associated with new-style countryside building should pay special attention to the improvement of agricultural products’ value, the selection of plant varieties and animal breeds, the application of science and technology, and the connectivity between businesses and cooperatives in developing strong agricultural products that match the market’s demand.

Meanwhile, the draft plan on economic infrastructure building needs to have its focuses further clarified, key projects listed, and targets, tasks, and solutions identified so as to maximise resources for implementation, he noted.

For the last half of the year, Tuan asked relevant agencies to assess the obtained targets, devise effective solutions to fulfill socio-economic development tasks, take drastic actions to prevent and control COVID-19, step up the disbursement of public investment, work harder to achieve the State budget collection target, and pay due attention to attracting non-budget investment.
