A delegation led by Vice Chairman of the Hoa Binh provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Toan on March 13 examined the implementation of a plan on preserving and bringing into play the values of the Muong ethnic culture and the Hoa Binh Civilisation for the 2023 - 2030 period in Lac Son district.
From March 10th – 11th, the People's Committee of Cao Phong town (Cao Phong) coordinated with the Relics Management Board to organize the traditional festival of Thuong Bong Lai Temple in 2024.

Khai Ha festival is a long-standing traditional folk festival with the largest scale of Muong people in Hoa Binh province. In 2022, Khai Ha fesstival the Muong minority in Hoa Binh province was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. In 2023 and 2024, the festival was held on the provincial scale, getting together 4 major Muong regions (Bi, Vang, Thang, Dong) to participate, and it has been an opportunity for the quintessence of Muong ethnic culture to converge and shine.
With a great passion for national art, outstanding artisan Nguyen Manh Tuan in Voi area, Ba Hang Doi town in Lac Thuy district, has developed and promoted a Muong ethnic cultural space with over 2,000 artifacts which are familiar in the daily life in the Muong ethnic people.
Along with the process of integration and development, traditional cultural identities of the Muong ethnic community in general, and Muong ethnic people in Tan Lac district in particular, are at risk of falling into oblivion. Therefore, many clubs have been established in the locality to preserve and promote the beauty of the ethnic group’s cultural identities.
Held every three years, the swing festival in Muong Voi, Vu Ban town in Lac Son district is "one-of-a-kind". From the 5th to the 7th day of the first lunar month in the Year of the Dragon, thousands of residents and tourists flocked to the locality to experience the unique cultural festival.
Many festivals take place in the first lunar month of the year in Lac Son district, attracting a large number of both home and foreign visitors to come and experience the locality’s unique cultural values.
The People's Committee of Lac Thuy district on February 29 held a ceremony to receive a certificate recognising Co Lao Temple as a provincial historical relic. Within the framework of the ceremony, leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Lac Thuy district, delegates, and locals offered incense at Co Lao temple.
The Xen Muong festival was held on a district-wide scale this year. It was even more special because the event of receiving the certificate of National Intangible Cultural Heritage for the social practice and belief of Keng Loong took place within the festival space.
The launching ceremony of the model "Preserving and promoting the cultural values of the Muong ethnic group" and the Cultural and Sports Festival of ethnic groups in Dan Chu ward, Hoa Binh city, Hoa Binh province took place on March 2024.

The Khai Ha Festival of Muong ethnic group in Hoa Binh province was held on a provincial scale from February 16 - 18 in Phong Phu commune, Tan Lac district.

The People’s Committee of Mai Chau district held a ceremony on February 19 to receive a certificate recognising "Keng loong,” a folk dance of the Thai community in Mai Chau, as a national intangible cultural heritage item. The Xen Muong festival was opened on the same occasion.
Within the framework of the Tien Pagoda Festival in Lac Thuy district in 2024, after the opening ceremony, a folk-art exchange program took place including Performing the traditional musical instruments, Muong gong art, folk dancing and singing, Chau Van singing... of the clubs preserving Muong ethnic cultural identity of Ba Hang Doi town, Hung Thi, Phu Thanh, Phu Nghia communes, together with the Meritorious Artisans Nguyen Manh Tuan, Tran Manh Hung... at the stage of Tien pagoda.
The Muong people account for over 63% of the population in Hoa Binh province. Over the time, the ethnic group has innovated and preserved its rich and diverse folk culture. Within this cultural background, there is a prominent, unique, and deeply humanistic art form known as Mo Muong.
On February 15th (Lunar January 6th), Phu Lai commune, Yen Thuy district held the opening ceremony of the festival of Xam Xuan communal house during the Dragon Spring in 2024.

For Vietnamese culture lovers like Cuong, the historical relic site is a must-visit place.
Tan Pheo commune in Da Bac district has been long inhabited by people of several ethnic minority groups such as Tay, Dao and Muong. Each ethnic group has its own culture and unique customs during Tet. For the Tay people, although life has changed a lot, their cultural identity and customs of celebrating the Lunar New Year are still preserved and passed down.
