Thanks to great efforts by local authorities in recent times, the governance and public administration performance of Mai Chau district has been significantly improved.
People in Da Do hamlet, Tan Thanh commune (Mai Chau district), are given access to all information related to the site clearance work for the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway project that traverses the area.
As many as 14 households in Thanh Son commune (Mai Chau district) have received financial support to build and repair houses under a programme to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses in the locality. Before disbursing the assistance, the Thanh Son communal People's Committee had made and publicised a list of eligible households at the communal People's Committee headquarters and the houses of culture of local hamlets while at the same time, collecting community opinions through community meetings. Accordingly, 100% of households agreed with the list of beneficiaries.
Lo Thanh Khuyen, Chairman of the Thanh Son communal People's Committee, said the administration has always emphasised openness and transparency in reviewing and listing poor households and those with housing difficulties that need support. Thanks to that, the implementation of the programme to eliminate sub-standards houses has not only ensured openess and transparency but also won support and participation of the community.
Lo Van Uan, a resident in Noong Luong commune, shared that the families receiving financial assistance are all those with housing difficulties and deserve assistance, so locals have shown unanimity and strong support for the programme.
Chairman of the Mai Chau district People’s Committee Pham Van Hoan noted that thanks to efforts by Party committees and authorities at all levels, information on governance and public administration in the district has recently been made public and transparent, enabling maximum access for local residents. Especially, information related to poor households, budget revenues and expenditures, land use plans and pricing, as well as site clearance and compensation for development projects, has been publicised, helping accelerate the implementation of socio-economic development programmes, ensure social welfare, and foster consensus among the public.
Accordingly, decision-making transparency have been promoted by making information available via documents, meetings, mass media outlets, as well as at administration headquarters and community centres.
In addition, authorities at all levels have arranged direct meetings and dialogues between heads of Party committees and authorities, and the people. Since the beginning of this year, the district People's Committee has organised two dialogues with officials and people in Tong Dau and Cun Pheo communes. Meanwhile, the People's Committees of commune-level localities have arranged 32 dialogues between their chairpersons and local Party members and residents. As a result, local residents have been updated about the district's governance and public administration, helping improve governance quality and administrative procedure settlement.
Since the start of this year, Mai Chau district has recorded nearly 7,000 documents applying for processing administrative procedures, with 99.56% of them resolved ahead of the deadline.
