HBO - On August 1 afternoon, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Bui Van Tinh chaired a meeting of the standing board of the provincial Party Committee on landslides in Hoa Binh city and solutions in the east of Ong Tuong hill. Attending the meeting were Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Tran Dang Ninh and Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Quang.

Due to prolonged heavy rain, the city recorded a total of 38 landslide areas with an estimated volume of about 15,000 cu.m of soil and rock. 

Due to the impacts of the 10th storm in 2017 and the third storm in 2018, as many as 18 cracks of 2-15cm in width and 10-90cm in length have appeared near the headquarters of agencies located in the east of Ong Tuong hill, forming a slide bow of over 300m in length, 200m in width and 30m in depth with about 1.8 million cu.m of soil and rock. It has moved down by about 5-80cm.

Concluding the event, Tinh stressed that ensuring the safety of life and property of the people as well as State assets is a central and urgent task. Therefore, the city will ensure housing for affected households, check the risks of landslide, especially in residential areas 25-26 of Dong Tien ward, offer timely warnings to ensure local lives and property. Households with collapsed houses must be immediately evacuated to Trung Minh resettlement area and others. He called for allocating land for real estate projects, including adding 17ha to Minh Trung resettlement areas, and budget to complete Hoa Binh 3 Bridge resettlement area. 

In Ong Tuong hill, he said the first task is ensuring the safety of existing works.
