(HBO) - The Hoa Binh People’s Committee has held a conference to consider and vote to select local communes fulfilling the new-style rural standards, along with a meeting to review content of an upcoming conference on the province’s 10-year implementation of the national target programme on building new-style rural areas.

Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, speaks at the conference.

The provincial assessment council of new-style rural areas made evaluation and voted for the accreditation of 11 communes as new style rural areas, namely Hien Luong, Hao Ly in Da Bac district; Xam Khoe, Na Phon in Mai Chau district; An Binh, Khoan Du in Lac Thuy district; Son Thuy, Kim Boi in Kim Boi district; and Trung Son, Tien Son, and Hop Chau in Luong Son district.

In 9 years implementing the programme, the 11 communes have recorded significant progress. In 2011, each commune completed an average 4.45 criteria of new style rural areas, while per capita income was 9.4 million VND and rate of poverty households stood at 23.3 percent. As of the end of 2019, these figures are 19 criteria, 34.2 million VND, and 8.3 percent, respectively. More than 95 percent of surveyed residents in the 11 communes said they support the recognisation of their localities as new-style rural areas.

The communes received 100 percent of votes from the council, meaning they have been recognized as new-style rural areas.

* The organization board of the conference reviewing Hoa Binh’s implementation of the national target programme on building new-style rural areas for 2010 – 2020 convened a meeting to discuss the content and preparation progress of the event. The upcoming conference will also honour outstanding individuals and organisations of the emulation campaign on new-style rural area building for 2016 – 2020.

At the meeting, the Hoa Binh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reported on the content planned for the conference and progress of preparatory work. Accordingly, the conference is slated for October 8 at the provincial cultural palace, with the participation of approximately 400 guests. On the sidelines, there will be an exhibition of 11 stalls introducing local farm produce and goods under the "One Commune, One Product” programme./.
