(HBO) – The Hoa Binh Farmers’ Association has launched the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO)-supported Forest and Farm Facility (FFF) programme in the second phase.
The FFF
programme gives training and technical guidance on organic grapefruit farming
to 35 farmer households in three communes in the project site.
Hoa
Binh is one of the four northern mountainous provinces to be covered by the
programme in the 2019-2022 period. It aims to turn forest and farm producer
organisations (FFPO), comprising of women and youngsters from ethnic minority
groups, into factors promoting changes to climate change resilience and the
improvement for locals’ livelihood.Total
aid for the programme in the third phase is 240,000 USD.
The provincial
Farmers’ Association has made surveys and chosen three communes in two
districts to implement the programme – An Binh commune in Lac Thuy district,
and Dong Lai and Tu Ne commune in Tan Lac district.
Currently,
the benefited communes have formed a key cooperative groups and cooperation
groups, while organising meetings at communal level to introduce and discuss
new laws, decrees and circulars to the local community. They have also held training
courses to give guidelines on a number of issues related to forest and farm
production./.
In Hoa Binh province, 11 traditional craft villages with more than 400 small-scaled production households have put in place a clean and green production model, establishing new standards for sustainable development. Waste collection sites and wastewater treatment facilities have been meticulously managed by local residents.
To make it easier for the residents to handle administrative procedures, Yen Bong Commune (Lac Thuy District) has identified the administrative reform as one of its key tasks. By implementing a range of synchronized solutions, the commune has seen the positive changes in the administrative reform, meeting the needs of its people.
