(HBO) – Relevant agencies said despite the influence of recent cold spells, cage fish farming on reservoirs, especially Hoa Binh Lake, remains stable. Besides, local farmers have effectively adopted caring and disease prevention measures to ensure good fish growth and minimise impact on the environment.
Many households in Suoi Hoa commune of Tan Lac district have invested in cage fish farming as their livelihood.
In Hoa Binh province, there are about 2,700ha of pond and lake surfaces and 4,700 cages for fish farming at present. The harvest in January was estimated at 1,025 tonnes, including 150 tonnes of natural and 875 tonnes of farmed fish. The volume rose by 5 tonnes and is equivalent to 100.4 percent of that in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, local authorities have increased examination and communications to raise public awareness of the harm from fishing with explosives, electricity, and toxins, along with the responsibility towards the protection and development of fishery resources in natural waters./.
