(HBO) – Dam Rung hamlet in Vinh Tien commune, Kim Boi district, Hoa Binh province, has a total area of 115ha, and 265 households with more than 1,130 people.

About 50 households living along road 12B are living on services and handicrafts. Meanwhile, the remainders practise agriculture.

Residents in Dam Rung hamlet, Vinh Tien commune, Kim Boi district, grow fruit trees.

Due to unfavourable terrace conditions, a number of households have shifted from rice cultivation to growing corn, sweet potato and peanut, and husbandry during the 2009-2010 period.

The farming models, sometimes, have brought about high economic values. However, after local residents expanded the farming area, they have met difficulties in consumption that depends on street vendors and local markets.

Without clear orientations, Dam Rang has yet to create economic momentum. Its annual per capita income stands at only 24 million VND, with 31 poor households and 56 others near poor.

Local authorities said the security and order situation in Dam Rung has affected the building of families and residential areas of culture, as well as rural area building.

Bui Van Thuong, head of the hamlet, said Dam Rung will encourage local residents to develop economic models, helping to raise their income.

He suggested Kim Boi district invest more in transport and irrigation systems in Dam Rung, and support local farmers in agricultural consumption and processing, towards sustainable poverty reduction, contributing the province’s socio-economic development./.
